First Impressions
FY Smile is located in beautiful Double Bay. Our beautiful and modern practice conveniently resides on the ground floor, providing easy and quick access.
The FY Smile clinic was designed to provide a luxurious yet harmonious and welcoming feeling upon entry. The entirety of the practice was developed with an emphasis on ergonomic flow to provide the most relaxing and inviting atmosphere possible.
Upon your arrival, you will be warmly greeted by a member of our reception team. If you provided us with an email address when scheduling your appointment, you will have received a digital medical history form to be filled out via DocuSign. You have the option of filling this form out in the comfort and convenience of your own home for early submission, or you can choose to fill in your information in our comfortable patient lounge upon your arrival.
We ask that you arrive at least fifteen minutes prior to your appointment time to allow us ample time to get you checked in – and to allow you time to fully enjoy a delicious and complimentary tea or coffee while you wait.

Dental Radiographs
Radiographs – commonly referred to as x-rays – are an important aspect of modern dental treatment. They provide your dentist with the ability to completely inspect and evaluate the health of your teeth and jaw bone.
During your first appointment, you can expect to have some diagnostic radiographs taken. These images provide the following information:
- Number of teeth present in the mouth
- Identify bone loss
- Identify tooth decay (caries)
- Observe the position of the teeth (check for impacted or crooked teeth)
Dental x-rays are completely safe and pain-free; you will be outfitted with a protective lead apron, and the technician will ensure that you are comfortable throughout the process.
Your dental radiographs provide your dentist with crucial information they need to develop a comprehensive and personalized treatment plan, allowing them to locate and diagnose any issues that are not visible to the naked eye.
Digital Dental Impressions
Next, we will take a set of digital dental impressions to produce a three-dimensional scan of your mouth.
A handheld scanner will be directed throughout the mouth. As the scanner proceeds, it takes a large number of images. These images are intelligently combined to create a completely three-dimensional model of the mouth.
This digital scan will provide us with even more critical information about the current state of your teeth and gums, and provides your dentist with another intelligent resource for your treatment plan development.
Dental Cleaning in Double Bay
It’s time to forget everything you know about dental cleanings. Here at FY Smile, we use the EMS Airflow – an intelligent and powerful system that was designed to completely revolutionize the dental cleaning process.
The Airflow system enables us to administer a specialized treatment known as Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT). This method permits the complete removal of biofilm (plaque) and calculus from the mouth with the use of relaxing airflow jets.
Traditional dental hygiene methods tend to be a bit time-consuming, uncomfortable, and even painful for some patients. Over time, many people, unfortunately, begin to dread their dental cleaning appointments.
GBT is used to painlessly and quickly disrupt and remove all signs of biofilm from the surfaces of the teeth – all with the use of a powerful yet gentle jet stream of water.
A specialized biofilm discloser is applied to the teeth prior to the cleaning; this disclosing solution illuminates biofilm and provides a strong visual motivation for you as the patient. Your hygienist will take the time to discuss hygiene tips with you, and if any damage or decay has been found, your chart (and treatment plan) will be updated accordingly.
