Here at FY Smile, we are proud to operate as an official Digital Smile Design (DSD) clinic. Part of the “magic” that comes with DSD treatment is the attention to detail and natural appearance. The DSD Smile Donator program makes it possible for us to provide our patients with personalized and natural-looking smiles that come from nature - not a computer. Read on to learn more about how you can make this program work for you in designing your beautiful new smile.
About Digital Smile Design (DSD)
Before we dive into the details surrounding the Digital Smile Donator process, let’s first break down exactly what Digital Smile Design is, as well as what it can do for you.
Digital Smile Design is an impressive digital treatment planning tool that we use to provide our patients with top-tier dental treatment.
DSD not only allows us to take an in-depth look at the current state of your smile but allows us to create a detailed digital mock-up of your potential “new” smile, as well. Using a series of precise images, videos, and measurements, DSD gives us the ability to create a unique and beautiful new smile that is custom-tailored for you and works harmoniously and naturally with your face.
Digital Smile Design provides you with the opportunity to thoroughly examine this mock-up, giving you full control over the planning and outcome of your treatment. There is no room left at any time for disconnect, miscommunication, or decisions made without the go-ahead from you. With DSD, you become a full partner with your dental professionals, working side by side to design the smile that you have always dreamed of.
About Digital Smile Donator
The Digital Smile Donator has created an entirely new experience for patients. This incredible technology makes it possible to completely mimic and recreate a natural smile provided by a donor. Donated smiles can come from anyone - friends, celebrities, and even images of your younger self!
Instead of using handmade or computer-generated shapes and models to create your new smile, we make use of the best of what nature has to offer by scanning and downloading natural smiles into the library of our 3D Smile Design Software.
Making use of natural shapes and algorithms (rather than man-made shapes) ensures that the end result is as visually-pleasing and natural as possible. There is no room for error with our intelligent processes; every last curvature and detail of the donor’s natural smile is recorded and recreated at a moment’s notice.
How the Smile Donator Process Works
To begin your treatment, we will first conduct a thorough consultation with you. During this consultation, we will take a look at the current state of your teeth and discuss your wants and needs at length.
A full set of diagnostic images and videos will be taken. These images will be used as crucial tools in your journey towards a beautiful new smile.
You will be presented with an extensive gallery of beautiful and natural smiles to adopt as your own. Once you have located a smile that strikes your fancy, we will use the images and videos that were previously taken to create a 2D digital representation of what you would look like after treatment is finished.
Using a specialized three-dimensional printer, a 3D model of your new smile will then be printed right here in our Double Bay clinic. This three-dimensional model is wearable; you will actually be able to place it inside your mouth directly over your teeth to take a personal, detailed, and real-time look at your prospective new smile. We call this step the “test drive”, as it allows you to take your new smile for a spin and let us know what you think.
We will take another series of photos and videos of you wearing the new smile. You will be given the opportunity to look them over and fully evaluate how you may potentially look once treatment is finished. If you decide the smile is just not a good fit for you, we’ll head back to the gallery to help you choose another donor smile and repeat the process as needed until you are completely satisfied.
Benefits of Digital Smile Donator
So, are you still wondering how you can personally benefit from this type of treatment? We are here to discuss what you need (and want) to know.
Below are some of the most notable benefits of the Digital Smile Donator process:
- Predictable and efficient treatment from start to finish
- Be fully involved in your treatment planning from the start - no decisions are made without your full approval
- Completely customize both your plan for treatment as well as the results
- Designs are taken from natural smiles rather than man-made concepts; enjoy natural results
- No room for error or cosmetic differences; the smile is exactly copied and recreated for you exactly as you see on the smile donator.
We are hardwired to appreciate and recognize nature; this is the basis and inspiration behind DSD’s Smile Donator program.
